In this edition of the International Course on Human Rights, emphasis was placed on the unique features and differences among investigation tasks in the human rights field and their distinctive features as regards fact-finding, documenting and monitoring, based on the study of specific or systematic human rights violations, and in the light of different approaching methodologies and new applied technologies.

HUMAN RIGHTS AS A UNIVERSAL IDEAL: GLOBAL THREATS AND CHALLENGES

With human rights considered a universal ideal in a globalized world and with constant threats and challenges, this edition of the International Course on Human Rights focused on current affairs, especially on the development and progress made in Argentina and in other countries in relation to human rights matters. Some of the topics addressed in the course were the transitional justice and the role of the human rights universal system and the specificity of its implementation at a regional level; the Argentine experience on memory, truth and justice; the tensions and challenges regarding the international protection of human rights; and emerging processes such as the criminalization of migration or Brexit.
